President's Page

In December, I sent out a letter to our congregation asking for an end of year donation to help offset rising costs.  To my delight, we received a wonderful response.  I would like to thank all of you who made donations for your general support of our congregation.

Of course I really should not have been surprised by the response.  We have a membership that always responds whenever M'vakshe Derekh has a need.  We are an organization of volunteers with no paid staff beyond our clergy.  We are a small congregation yet everything gets done.  It is done because we have members who are dedicated to the success of this organization.  This participation creates a sense of community that is hard to find anywhere.

As always, there is still a need to increase the number of people who volunteer their time and effort.  First and foremost, we are looking for people who would like to learn about becoming a Gabbai.  Evan Rubin has been our Gabbai forever and will continue in that position.  However, it is time to train some new people to help with this task and take over when he and Carole decide to take a well earned vacation.  In a few months, we will be looking for more people to help in the planning and participation of the High Holidays.  If any of these interest you, please lt me know.  If there is something else that you would like to do, I would like to hear from you as well.

I urge all of you to get involved in our congregation.  I assure you it will be a rewarding experience for you and for M'vakshe Derekh.
